The One Question New Agents Fear The Most

Everyone has been new once. And I know for most new agents, the question they dread getting the most is, “How long have you been in the business?” You don’t want to admit your inexperience, but you can’t lie either…. so what do you do?

You know the age-old saying, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade?”

Prepare for the next time a buyer or seller asks you how long you’ve been in the biz.

Rookie Script

“I am new to the business, and I understand your concerns. But I am fired up!

I’m going to devote all my energy to getting your home sold/finding you your dream home. Unlike other agents out there who are juggling handfuls of clients, you are my number one priority and I am always available to answer any questions you have.

Plus, my amazing brokerage/mentor/coach, with (awesome fact about track record, experience, sales, etc) is just a phone call away if I need them.

So, let’s find you the perfect house/sell this house!”

Practice answering this question with a colleague, friend or family member. Memorize your answer and record yourself delivering it. When you play it back, make sure you sound self assured so when the time comes, you don’t freeze up.

The key is here is confidence and enthusiasm. Don’t be shy or meek or uncertain. You need to show your client that you can execute and that you have the chops and the gumption to make it happen. They might like you but if they don’t respect and trust you, you’re never going to win.
